Hello
tl/dr: Can proxmox-backup-client "go over"/follow softlink and backup real file but not softlink?

We have a daily backups windows hosts with UrBackups, then we want to geo-copy to the existing PBS on other localisation we already had. Urbackup share is mounted on PBS over NFS-readonly. When backup was created, on PBS and view root.pxar.didx files has type "softlink" or "hardlink" and softlink cannot be restored/downloaded

symlinks and hardlinks are always backed up as links, and not resolved and backed up multiple times (well, for hardlinks one copy is obviously stored, the rest are stored as hardlinks ;)).. else we'd need to deduplicate on restore or waste space. we could of course implement a 'try to follow link when restoring a single file', but symlinks can be dangling..

I also second this. following symlinks would enable PBS to backup /var/snap/<snapname>/current. Currently it is impossible to backup snaps, which makes backing up an LXD/LXC host nearly irrelevant.

implementing an opt-in "follow-symlinks" mode would be possible I guess.. depending on what you are backing up, it might blow up the space needed for the backup though.. would you mind filing an enhancement request at https://bugzilla.proxmox.com (please include your envisioned use case(s))
