Hi,

I recently came to know about Proxmox.

I know that to build HA cluster I need 3 servers working together on min 10G network.

My question is how Proxmox creates shared storage to perform VMs migration? What kind of storage I need(SSD,HDD)?

I am planning to purchase and build 3 server Proxmox cluster running 4-5 linux VMs.

Any suggestions on storage and RAM?

The only way for Proxmox/PVE to "create" shared storage is by configuring Ceph. All other types of shared storage require either external storage array or multiple manual package installations and configuration (ie outside of PVE framework).

Depends on your requirements, budget and availability of resources.

Enough to satisfy requirements of your applications running in the VMs, plus growth projections.

At work I have (more than) this. No upper end...

The absolute mininum number of servers with HA enabled is two - plus a mandatory "Quorum Device"/"QDev" - search for it.

At home I have only 1 GBit/s and no real shared storage but ZFS plus replication. This would replicate critical virtual machines every x hours (or minutes). When a node dies the respective VMs will start automatically on one of the other nodes.

The data lost is the data from the last replication event to now. This is longer than with real shared shorage (NFS/Ceph). But the idea and the effect are the same - for me.

Best regards - just my 2€¢ and ymmv, as usual

I came to know that Ceph has this subscription for Enterprise. How much does it cost to use Ceph Enterprise? Also is it something part of Proxmox subscription?

You are mistaken. There is no functional difference between free and enterprise versions of PVE.
The pricing is posted here: https://www.proxmox.com/en/proxmox-virtual-environment/pricing
Ceph is part of all types of PVE subscriptions, including Free. There is no special charge for Ceph if you buy PVE subscription.
