Hi All

Can anyone point me to simple instructions to migrate to a newer larger physical disk?

Background:

I use proxmox (latest) on an Intel NUC (mSATA SSD). I just bought a new much larger SSD and want to clone my current drive to the new one.

I have an mSATA<->USB3 caddy to help with the migration.

I've tried Clonezilla but the new drive will not boot. ("Reboot and select proper Boot device")
I've tried DD but get a "vmid not found" error"

I am not very familiar with LVM (which is probably the issue!)

I am a subscriber.

I've done this loads of times in the past with no issue but this is the first time I am trying on disks that use LVM.

Any ideas?

Thank you

related: i've always used clonezilla for this. Last time was in october and worked.

good luck.

Hi All

I love proxmox...

So, I tried Clonezilla with multiple different version. I tried dd on a few different systems. Nothing worked - the newly written SSD would not boot.

So, I thought: "I still have the old disk and it's fine. I'll try a quick re-install from scratch of Proxmox".

20 minutes later and it's all installed, I've restored all VM and containers from from last nights backups and dumps.

Awesome!
