Hi

We have 2 servers I'd like to enable numa for - I've read it improves performance?

Note these are linux and windows VMs. around 4 to on each node.

CPus we have:

First Node: http://ark.intel.com/products/64594...E5-2620-15M-Cache-2_00-GHz-7_20-GTs-Intel-QPI
Second Node: http://ark.intel.com/products/64621...-E5-1620-10M-Cache-3_60-GHz-0_0-GTs-Intel-QPI

for cpanel VMs that are kvm we assign 8 vcpus on both the above nodes.

Should we use or not use numa. We give each server 12GB to start with when we setup any new server.

Hi,
do you have 2 CPUs in the first node? NUMA make only sense with mutible CPUs (or Opteron CPUs with 2 CPUs on one die).

No we don't but can add another one.

So should not use it on nodes at all without 2 processors?

Hi,
you have no benefit with one cpu only. But if one server has two cpus its make sense to enable numa on the 1-cpu server too - if you use live migration the right setting for the VM is still set.
