Hi guy's
I new here and need some help.
I try to move over from my Unraid to Proxmox. I reduced my data array in unraid to a single disk and that I will now path through to the new unraid VM.
I managed to display it in unraid but the Name and Serial of the device is changed so I think it's not a real path through.

Thanks for helping me!

Best regards,
Stephan

You didn't passthrough the drive. It is virtualized using virtio so your VM is seeing only the name of the virtual disk. And because its a virtual disks its using 512B LBA instead of 4K LBA and so on. If you really want real passtrough (so that the VM can directly and physically access your drives) you need to use PCI passthrough to passthrough the complete SATA controller with all its ports and drives attached to that ports to the VM. You will most likely need to buy a additional PCIe raid/hba card for that.

You should be able to use virtual drives too (with more overhead of cause) but then you might want to wipe the drive first and reformat it using unraid.

Hi guys, thanks for that really quick answer.
So is that maybe a difference between Esxi and Proxmox? On my ESXi exactly that was possible.
If I add my Controller with pci paththrough how I can add the disc?

As far as I know, this is a good as you are going to get unless you do actual PCI passthrough of a drive controller, which often comes with its own set of problems (and I think you can find more posts about this).
Most people try to passthrough the onboard controllers or buy cheap consumer SATA cards with bad linux support. If everyone would buy good enterprise hardware like LSI HBAs that were build with virtualization and such server stuff in mind I'm sure there wouldn't be that much people with problems out there.

I mean, that there is some kind of a GUI or even console Browser to View/move/copy/delete files. Same like in ESXi the Browse Datastore function.
Or where are the data mounted und /

Sorry for the nooby questions

No, you can handle backups, ISOs, templates, virtual disks using the GUI but for all other things you just use the CLI.
