Hi everyone,
I'm completely new to setting up servers and working with Linux, so I appreciate your patience as I navigate through this. I recently attempted to install Proxmox on an Intel NUC10 and have run into some issues.

Currently, I'm unable to access the web interface or see the server on my network. I can't even ping my router.

Here are some specifics:
  • Server: Intel NUC10
  • Connection: Wired LAN
  • Router: Fritzbox 7530
  • DHCP Range: 192.168.178.20 to 192.168.178.175

Despite following installation guides, I can't seem to get Proxmox to work. I would be incredibly grateful for any guidance or troubleshooting tips to help me resolve these issues.

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Your Virtual Bridge (vmbr0) is configured to use physical interface named "eno1".

The "eno1" has a NO-CARRIER status. That means it cannot detect physical layer connectivity to your other node. It can be caused by:
bad cable
no cable
bad nic
incompatible nic
cable plugged into wrong port
etc

Your first troubleshooting step is to review your physical connectivity.

Good luck

first of all thx a lot for the reply.

Is there a way to limit the possibilities.
I know the cable works with multiple other laptops and a raspberry pi and there is only one port, its a NUC10i7-10710U. It is a used machine and was configured for low consumption in the UEFI since it was placed in a passive cooling case. Could that result in problems?

I don't know. Its not the type of hardware I am familiar with.

One of the options is "NIC compatibility" - you can review this thread https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/r...eze-performance-with-promox-7-4-and-8.134212/
Run the commands mentioned there to confirm the type of chipset you are using.

There are no other common knobs in PVE/Debian that you can turn to change NO-CARRIER to UP. Its generally a physical layer problem.

Hi,

I'm just throwing my question in this thread cause it looks like the most related to my searches in the forum and to avoid creating a thread just for a simple question.

Starting to evaluate PVE. I've noticed that through the Web interface I cannot see the physical link status of a nic and that I have to connect to the CLI to obtain answers with an ip link :

2: eno1: <NO-CARRIER,BROADCAST,MULTICAST,SLAVE,UP>
3: eno2: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,SLAVE,UP,LOWER_UP>
4: eno3: <NO-CARRIER,BROADCAST,MULTICAST,SLAVE,UP>
5: eno4: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,SLAVE,UP,LOWER_UP>

Is that correct? Or is there a way to get that info directly in the Web GUI ?

Many thanks.
