Hi everyone,

I am getting the following syslog messages every 10 seconds or so. It has been happening for a long time, I have updated packages, restarted Proxmox, etc. but this keeps happening:

Code:
Oct 05 16:16:42 pve kernel: device eth0 left promiscuous mode
Oct 05 16:16:43 pve kernel: device lo left promiscuous mode
Oct 05 16:16:43 pve kernel: device eth0 entered promiscuous mode
Oct 05 16:16:43 pve kernel: device lo entered promiscuous mode
Oct 05 16:16:53 pve kernel: device eth0 left promiscuous mode
Oct 05 16:16:53 pve kernel: device lo left promiscuous mode
Oct 05 16:16:53 pve kernel: device eth0 entered promiscuous mode
Oct 05 16:16:53 pve kernel: device lo entered promiscuous mode

I am running Proxmox VE 7.2.11
Unfortunately I have no idea when or how it started. I can't determine if it is affecting system/network performance.

Any ideas/assistance would be appreciated, thanks!

me too. wondered the same

Same here. Not every 10 seconds, but continuously

Code:
Jul 21 10:54:42 pve3 kernel: device ens1f1 entered promiscuous mode
Jul 21 10:54:42 pve3 kernel: device ens1f1 left promiscuous mode
Jul 21 10:54:42 pve3 kernel: device ens1f1 entered promiscuous mode
Jul 21 10:54:42 pve3 kernel: device ens1f1 left promiscuous mode
Jul 21 10:54:42 pve3 kernel: device ens1f1 entered promiscuous mode
Jul 21 10:54:42 pve3 kernel: device ens1f1 left promiscuous mode
Jul 21 10:54:42 pve3 kernel: device ens1f1 entered promiscuous mode

The device ens1f1 is down, unused and no cable is attached.

pve-manager/8.0.3/bbf3993334bfa916 (running kernel: 6.2.16-4-pve)

Correction: I am using that interface, but it used to be called enp23s0f1 in proxmox 7 and is now ens1f1. After changing that in /etc/network/interfaces the error went away.

It was also possible to erase the now no longer existing network interfaces from the web gui.
