Multi Datacenter Management

Adding my +1 here as well. We need some sort of central management page for both administrative purposes and users to log in to interact with the environment we provision them.

stage 0 for start even no vm migrations, but ability to add multiple datacenters to the same gui and manage without switching between windows
stage 1 add ability to move vms around via shared storage or shared proxmox backup server
stage 2 add direct migrations
stage 3 add live migrations

+1

Curious where the Proxmox team is at with this given the explosion of enterprise customers from Broadcoms fumble. Proxmox has a massive opportunity right now.

The moment this arrives, lots of users will discover they are better off with "multi-datacentre" management of their multiple (what should have been) single-node installs as opposed to clusters (which they felt compelled to use due to the missing feature).

It will be also about having ... a control-like node (feature set), something that PVE likes to distinguish itself from the rest that it does not need to rely on.

Interesting, there goes quorum CPG concept.

Agreed. I have zero clusters but do have more than a dozen (and growing) hosts scattered across multiple states.

I just want a logical replacement for vCenter.

The Datacenter Manager will not be a vCenter replacement. Fortunately, because we don't need all the bugs.
But you can use it to manage clusters and single nodes.

You just outlined a replacement. That is exactly what it will be.

I get your point though. Semantics aside, it will be a huge value add for Proxmox moving forward.

Ignoring bugs for the moment, what will it not do, that vcenter does?

You have to understand part of the ethos of this community manifests itself in bringing up everything bad about the so-called competition that others are willing to pay for multiple $$$ for. That's about it.

NB If anything, it will be GUI wrapper around qm remote-migrate, I would not expect much more. You can't really have anything more with the corosync based model.
