Hi,

I need to migrate a two node cluster from PVE 3.2 to 5.1.
The cluster uses a shared storage device connected via SAS to the nodes running GFS2 on top of the shared block devices.
GFS2 uses lock_dlm as locking manager, managed by the cluster manager of PVE.

Is it possible to install PVE 5.1 on one of the nodes and mount the GFS2 even if the old node still uses it? I have some doubts as the cluster managers are not compatible and the locking would have to "extend" over two different clusters.

I expect this will create troubles.

I suggest you do a full backup of your VM and then do a fresh 5.1 install and restore your data, after you tested your new setup intensively.

GFS2 is not widely used on Proxmox VE and known to have performance and stability issues as well. But I have to admit, I do not run GFS2 on any machine, so I have no real personal experience.
