Lenovo P910 not connecting to new router

I recently switched out my ISP 2.5gb modem/router for a TP Link BE 3600. I looked up the new IP address and gateway in the TP link app and changes the IP address and gateway on the P910 by using nano /ETC/NETWORK/INTERFACES. I also changed the IP address using nano /ETC/HOSTS as well. after changing, saving, exiting and rebooting the P910 and upon its restart and logging in to Proxmox I try to ping google and receive the message unknown address or something like that (I honestly forgot). Can anyone tell me what i am missing? I can change it back to the original modem/router and it works fine. Thanks.
 
Can you please post the content your configuration files, as well as the error message? That should help in diagnosing the cause of your issues.
