I have a CentOS VM installed no problem, but I can't get Windows to work properly.

Windows 7 Pro:
Issue is that it won't see the hard disk that I allocated...

Windows Server 2012 R2:
Issue is constant cycling... boot failed: not a bootable disk.

Any help would be amazing!

you do it right. check your driver ISO image, maybe the image is corrupted?

I don't think both ISO files would be corrupt. What's the best way to check?

I tried it earlier before this video...

compare md5sum

also faulty hardware can cause this, e.g. bad RAM modules.

=> test the same on another hardware.

I think the problem is the default CPU type (kvm64) does not support one of the processor features required by Windows Server 2012 R2. If you change the processor type to SandyBridge, you don't get the constant reboot problem.

I don't know what effect this has on performance or other things on Proxmox, maybe Tom can help one that?

yes, but win7 works with any processor type. for win2012, you can just use cpu type "host".

I just did an installation with Windows 8 and it worked fine... so it isn't the RAM or the ISO... any ideas on 7 or 2012 server?

also check the win7 or win2012 iso with md5sum.

Ok I'll try that for the server... Still not sure what to do about Windows 7 Pro though.

try another ISO, e.g. one with integrated SP1.

Unfortunately my Microsoft Partner Network doesn't have any other ones, except Windows 7 Ultimate...Where can I get one with SP1? I have a license, but not the DL.

If you have your Microsoft Licensing Profile setup you can down load ISOs with SP1. All your download, product ID, license # all there. Only if you have ever setup the profile. Just search Microsoft Volume Licensing on google and you will see the link.

It was the image... redownloaded the iso and it works. Thanks for the help everyone!
