Installation Questions / Need help

I'm pretty new to Linux so please bare that in mind.

I just installed Debian today on my laptop, im trying to install proxmox by following the bookworm wiki guide and im up to the point where I am trying to add the repository to the sources list.

'echo "deb [arch=amd64] http://download.proxmox.com/debian/pve bookworm pve-no-subscription" > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pve-install-repo.list'

however when I run this it says Permission Denied.

I am not sure where to go from here, I tried going to the sources list and from what I can tell it does not exist?

Super confused, I am probably doing something really stupid, if anyone can help recommend resource on how I can better understand Linux or Debian that'd be great.

What's your usecase for ProxmoxVE? If you mainly want to run your Notebook as a Desktop System something like VirtualBox or virt-manager is more suitable.

Are you running this command as a user or as root? (Use "su -" or "sudo -i" to become root.)
