Hi,
just kinda new to Proxmox , i only installed it one time for a office small local server and it works good.
Now i need to dismiss the office server and move to an online server so that we can work from home.

The goal is :
- Rent a dedicated server with 5 IPs
- Install Proxmox
- Create 2 VMs based on Win10 for RDP access
- Provide 1 shared 2TB HDD for the 2 VMs
- Have the 2 VMs communicate also via LAN (virtual LAN?)
- Fault tollerance is not so important , i'll just backup the application DB

So, out team is based on 2 people who must access their VM using RDP .
Each VM will run local client server application (invoicing and stuff like that)
The VMs must be able to access their shared folder (SMB) and have at least 4GB RAM and 200GB storage.

I was thinking to rent a server with these specs :

- CPU Intel i7
- 16GB Ram
- Dsik1 : 64GB SSD dedicated to Proxmox
- Disk2 : 256GB SSD dedicated to VM1
- Disk3 : 256GB SSD dedicated to VM2
- Disk4 : 2TB HDD shared storage for both VMs
- No RAID

This is almost the same conf i used for the local server we have in the office and it works good, no I/O delays and performances are good.

Questions:
- Do you think the Disks layout needs to be changed?
- Can you tell me how to have the 2 VMs access their shared folders?
- Will the VMs have a public IP for internet access and a private IP (like 192.168.1.x ) to create a virtual LAN ?
- Is that ok if the dedicated server will have only 1 Ethernet port?

Thank you in advance.

If redundancy is not problem for you this layout is ok.

Can you tell me how to have the 2 VMs access their shared folders?
Make a Samba container with this 2TB disk and make it accessible on the internal network bride.

Will the VMs have a public IP for internet access and a private IP (like 192.168.1.x ) to create a virtual LAN ?
You can give the Windows VM 2 nic one for internet and one for intranet.

s that ok if the dedicated server will have only 1 Ethernet port?
Yes you have one network bride with this nic and an other network bride for internal use without nic.

Thank you so much Wolfgang .
I'll keep this thread updated as soon as i start configuring the new server.
