Feature request : Expiration dates for snapshot

Hi,

We thought about something that could be usefull for anybody : snapshot expiration date.
When you take a snapshot, we could have an option with a tick box, then you set a date or a duration after which the snapshot is deleted automatically by the hypervisor.

If I talk about our case : when doing updates on machines, we take a snapshot, update the machine, keep the snapshot for 7 days just in case something is wrong. Then we delete it... or we forget... and we have old snapshots taking disk space for nothing... You get the idea...


What are you thinking about that ?

A similar thing can be done with backups. If your storage has snapshot capability, when you take a backup it will create a storage level snapshot - Thus not using any more space and then you can set an expiration on the backup.

The snapshots are not just for that,maybe they keep some specific version of software you come back often. It is a rather specific thing,but nothing prevents you adding a bugzilla entry.
