i seem to be getting emails from PBS now for everything. i only ever want email on failure, but i cannot find where to configure anything related to emails..

In the automated backups, in Proxmox VE, if you schedule a backup job, you can set the "Email notification" to "On failure only" instead of always.
yea, not the backups, sorry, its the "verify" and "gc" from the backup server itself. Not Proxmox VE doing the actual backup
