I am trying to install px ve 8.3 on a couple of Dell machines using Idrac's virtual CD option. This works fine when Idrac is on a dedicated port. However, some of the machines use a shared Idrac port. On those machines the Idrac / virtual CD connection is lost when px installer probes the network interfaces for an IP address. By the time the connection has recovered the installer has crashed with either a Dell Red Screen of Death or a kernel panic. I can bypass the issue by inserting a usb key with the installer and using that as installation source, but of course that's not really a remote install.
I could confirm the behaviour on Idrac versions 8 and 9
So - Is there an option, possibly using grub, to keep px installer from probing the network interfaces?
