[SOLVED] DELL Poweredge Compatibility

Hi Tmoises,
I've not installed PVE or PBS on the 450 line, just the 440 line (and 640 and 740). Proxmox VE and BS both run on standard Debian under the hood and any server should be compatibility so long as they support Debian or Ubuntu. You may experience some drivers that require access to Ubuntu repositories, for those you can download the package directly as a one time deal (let me know if you need help).
Dell PE R450 supports Ubuntu 20.04 and 22.04 just fine: https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-ca/drivers/supportedos/poweredge-r450
I imagine there are no issues with installation, the Dell PowerEdge and HPE Proliant line-ups are widely used worldwide and problems are addressed pretty much immediately as the server business is big. Note that the R450 is already three years old, so it has had a lot of time to mature and resolve stability issues that may have been present in the first month or two after release.
Additionally, you can upgrade the firmware of the hardware using Ubuntu fairly easily: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/...he-dell-bios-in-a-linux-or-ubuntu-environment but keep in mind that some of the hardware can be flashed over the iDRAC web interface which may be more convenient. Oh and don't forget about the Ubuntu Firmware Update Manager: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1394105/how-can-i-upgrade-my-device-firmware-from-the-command-line which may or may not be supported on Dell PowerEdge but all three of my Dell XPS Laptops work just fine with it- including my NVMe drives and motherboard drivers.
