Crash/Freeze when booting installer on server

Just to preface, this is my first time installing Proxmox and using hypervisors in general. When I boot Proxmox from my USB, I select the first option and get to the "Welcome to Proxmox" installing screen. It loads for a little while, flickers all black, then freezes on the installer screen.

Hi,

what hardware does your machine have? BIOS/UEFI? Is a dedicated graphics card installed, especially a Nvidia one?
These are often problematic.

You can try the Install Proxmox VE (Terminal UI) option as an alternative, which often can help in situations where the graphical installer does not work.

Is it a completely black screen or are there some messages?

HP Z620 Workstation is the machine I am using. Running BIOS. No dedicated graphics cards
Some Messages are there the screen flickers then freezes on the installing screen.

For anyone else searching and finding this, it'll be the graphics card as stated by Christoph. Most HP workstations were bought with Nvidia cards.

I had the exact same issue with a Z620. It would boot to the menu and no matter what option, GUI or Terminal, it would flicker then freeze when loading the drivers.

I was using an Asus branded Nvidia Geforce GT 710 (4 HDMI ports) in the Z620.

Strangely I swapped it for the original Nvidia NVS300 that came with the Workstation and Proxmox installer booted and installed fine. I only tested with Terminal UI as that's what I prefer to use anyway.

It would be nice to have a failsafe option on the installer that avoids loading graphics drivers. Why does the installer still load the nvidiafb when you select Terminal UI?
