Hi

I dont understand how work turbo bust in Proxmox. I installed windows on my i5 10400 and had all 6 cores on 4Ggz

Now I have proxmox and there 2.7Ggz on all cores. I tried tuned-adm profile throughput-performance
and cpupower frequency-set -g performance but

cat /proc/cpuinfo |grep "cpu MH"
cpu MHz : 2737.393
cpu MHz : 2748.742
cpu MHz : 2733.740
cpu MHz : 2734.526
cpu MHz : 2748.419
cpu MHz : 2726.210
cpu MHz : 2745.146
cpu MHz : 2752.388
cpu MHz : 2740.131
cpu MHz : 2740.156
cpu MHz : 2753.423
cpu MHz : 2752.198

Any ideas?

How can i make 4Ggz on all cores all time?

Buy a cpu that is capable of what you want. Your CPU has a base clock speed of 2.9 GHz and can turbo up if you need the power and only on some cores and also not all the time.
But 10400 can works in turbo for all cores with 4Ggz! And works in windows.

I feel like you are paying too much attention to the output of /proc/cpuinfo . Generally, turbo boost means that the frequency of some cores can temprarily be higher if the environment supports this. Just because Windows writes it down it does not mean that your CPU is always running at 4GHz.

Did you try to start a cpu-intensive single-threaded process to simulate a high single-core demand?

Also note that generally the output of cpuinfo is not reliable in terms of Turbo Boost, see here: https://askubuntu.com/questions/37618/is-turbo-boost-working

OK, i disabled intel_pstate in /etc/default/grub
Now turbo boost works like i want.
