Bingo! Killing the Java process made the CT stop


Edit: Well look at that, it even unlocked and booted up again by itself. Now, any idea what is going on? Just so if it is a bug I don't wipe the evidence..

well, it looks like that process refused to terminate when asked nicely if it is reproducible, I'd look at what exactly this process does and how it is supposed to exit cleanly - maybe some service unit is configured wrong?
