CEPH vs RAID

Hello, I would like to ask you a few questions about CEPH. Currently, I'm working on critical infrastructure for my client, and I'm planning to use servers with hardware RAID. My first question is whether I should opt for CEPH or classic RAID on these servers? The second question is whether it's possible to integrate CEPH with hardware RAID on these servers? And the last question pertains to the advantages of CEPH. If you need any additional specifications to provide answers, please feel free to ask, and I'll provide all the information I can.

Thank you so much

The question is if you want HCI cluster with 3+ nodes (better more) and a shared storage without SPOF or not. If yes, then it's ceph.
And no, not recommended to use hardware raid with storage solutions like ZFS or ceph that benefit from direct access to the physical disks because they also got disk management integrated.

Yes I am going to use that storage without SPOF. Also what is computation power of CEPH compare to hardware RAID? I am going to use 3x Dell R910 servers.

then "RAID" is a non starter. the server is a spof.

assuming you're comparing RAID10 to replication, there's no real "computation" to speak of. if you're asking about performance, it will depend on a few factors but primarily the disk type and network speed/design

these are seriously outdated, and total pigs on power. hope you dont pay for power or cooling.

Also am I able to go from DELL Perc H700 raid controller to CEPH?
no, or at least not without some hackery to cross flash it to IT mode. easier to just replace it with a SAS HBA, eg H200/300.
