Hello.

I have three similar computers. Each of them has 2 similar-size disks.

I installed PVE on one of the computers and configured its two disks as a ZFS mirror during installation.

I recently did the same on a second computer and joined them as a cluster.

I was about to do the same for the third computer. But now I have discovered what CEPH is able to do and would like to use CEPH on the whole cluster.

I don't know if that should be done when installing or it could be done now.

Should I backup my VMs and containers, delete everything on every node, and reinstall everything to have a new cluster that uses CEPH?

Or can I make my current nodes (which have ZFS-mirror) use CEPH?

What do you recommend?

Thank you!

Did you add a Quorum Device? This is highly recommended for a two-node cluster.

You can add Ceph later on - it is just another "Storage".

You need unsused disks for this. So add some SSDs into each of -three or more- nodes and... off you go.

I am glad you asked :-)

This post of mine is exactly for you: https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/fabu-can-i-use-ceph-in-a-_very_-small-cluster.159671/

Thank you very much! I've said bye to CEPH. It requires to buy new stuff.
