Can't ping externally, can't download CT templates

I am new to Proxmox. It seems like I can't access the internet via Proxmox. I can ping my gateway but pings to any other IPs fails including 8.8.8.8. I noticed something was wrong when I tried downloading a CT template and got this error, "task error: download failed: wget: unable to resolve host address 'download.proxmox.com'" Traceroute to external address just gives me **** for all 30 hops.

I have attached screenshots for /etc/network/interfaces and etc/resolv.conf

I tried disabling the firewall on the datacenter level, the node level and on my router.

I even reinstalled proxmox and the issue continues.

Note: I have other devices on the same network, using the same gateway and they all work as expected.

Please help, thank.,

May you try to commit the `search local` in the `/etc/resolv.conf` and test ping google.com or 8.8.8.8?

I am not sure what you mean by, "commit the `search local`" do you want me to remove that line from the conf file?

Ping to google.com shows no results and pings to 8.8.8.8 shows all packets lost

Hmm. You've got communication on the local subnet, but it doesn't go any farther ... Hmm...

Check your route. What does this say?
ip route

Do you see a default route?
If you don't see a default route, add it!
ip route add default via 192.168.100.1

ip route add default via 192.168.100.1
I see, "default via 192.168.100.1 dev vmbr0 proto kernel onlink"

Followed by, "192.168.100.1/24 dev vmbr0 proto kernel link src 172.16.1.10"

I'm no netadmin, but let's talk about that second line ...

Your route statement should say
for everything on (this subnet), use (this network device), and source it from (your own IP)

This looks wrong to me. This is an IP, not a subnet. I'm not sure how this would be interpreted by routing.
192.168.100.1/24

This is the subnet itself. Try this.
192.168.100.0/24

Solved: Turns out my ISP's modem is just stupid.

It's a Huawei hg8245w5 and it has a primary and secondary lan feature. Somehow it was blocking proxmox traffic from accessing the internet via the primary lan. The primary lan doesn't even allow me to modify the dhcp range.

I had to enable the secondary lan and configure proxmox to work with this lan. I even had to enable the dhcp on this lan, even tho proxmox has a static ip.

Right now some of the device are on the primary and others are on the secondary. Only way I discovered to control which device gets which address is by setting static ips. Traffic flows freely between the primary and secondary lan so it hopefully it isn't an issue.

I hope to buy a unifi dream route soon.
