Can't get VNC to work on Mac/Linux/Windows

Hello, all...

Sorry to be a total n00b, but I've been searching for the past hour trying to find out why I can't get vnc applet to work on the Mac (OS X = Snow Leopard, Firefox = 3.6.3), CentOS 5.4 GUI workstation or Windows XP Pro (1024 x 768 resolution) when using Firefox or IE 6.x

All I get is a blank screen, regardless of what OS I try to load. I can reload the page until the cows come home, but no joy. I have no firewall between the Proxmox box and any of the 3 clients.

What am I missing?!?

perhaps the right Java-Plugin? http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
(other Java-Plugins may work also)

just install the sun-java browser plugin.

for windows, go to http://java.com

for linux, install sun-java6-plugin (e.g. on Ubuntu and Debian (non-free), etc. but as far as I know not in the standard repo for centos).

on newest linux desktop distros, e.g. Fedora 12/13 it works also using openjdk.
