Booting From Degraded ZFS Raid 1 RPOOL

Just built a new server to test new PROXMOX version 4.3. Loving me some PROXMOX. I love the ZFS file system, and plan to use ZFS in my newest server. I chose to use ZFS Raid 1 during the installation. However, once the system was operational (easy peasy), one of the very first tests I did was to make sure that PROXMOX could boot in case one of the hard drives died (for whatever reason). Otherwise, what is the point of having a ZFS RPOOL, right? I could not get PROXMOX to boot from either drive with the other Raid 1 drive missing. My tests appear to indicate that booting from a DEGRADED ZFS RPOOL is not possible, which defeats the whole point of having a Raid 1 boot drive in the first place (in my opinion). Obviously, I have missed something. Can anybody share their wisdom regarding this subject with me?

Have you installed grub on both drives?
And what about your BIOS settings, does it even try to boot from the other drive?
I have not modified ... straight "out of the box" ... appears to not even try to boot when RPOOL is degraded!
Thanks for the reply ... BIOS settings are exactly as they were running version 3.3 (non-raid) ...

I moved the installation to a different (newer) piece of hardware, and verified that PROXMOX 4.3 w/ ZFS Raid 1 - 2T Hitachi HDs will indeed boot off of either drive with the other drive unplugged. Evidently, the first attempt (failure) was a BIOS problem. There was no need to "install" anything after doing a proper installation ... out of the box. Film at eleven.

Strange. Seems like your old hardware was hardcoded to boot from first disk. Are you sure you are not able to configure the BIOS to look for other disks for booting purposes?

The board in question only shows "Hard Disk" in the BIOS "boot from" setting ... you are allowed 3 priorities ... 1st is CD ... next two are "Hard Disk" ... tried every possible combination (I think) ... no matter ... gotta' use a different motherboard anyway ... SuperMicro board works like a charm! It is presently carrying the load of the office using Proxmox 3.3, so had to put it back ... will update / upgrade to 4.3 on a long weekend.

Thanks for responding ... and advice ... love the 4.3 ... so far!
