bonding Fail-over-mac is not passed in the configuration

When configuring bonding active-backup via /etc/network/interfaces, the additional parameter bond-fail-over-mac is not applied on the interface. Can you tell me ifupdown2 supports this additional parameter? If not, should we expect an implementation in the future?

It seems the issue is known but not taken care of: https://github.com/CumulusNetworks/ifupdown2/issues/254
So you will need to do it by script or some modprobe fiddleing.

I found some docs that say the option should be bond-fail_over_mac active, not bond-fail-over-mac active but that didn't work for me. What did work was to set bonding options in /etc/modprobe.d/bonding.conf. For example, I put the following there:

options bonding max_bonds=1 mode=1 primary_reselect=0 fail_over_mac=1 miimon=250
