Hello, im not sure if this is the right place to post this. But im not sure where else to post this. I want to suggest a feature to the backup server, a feature used by IBM Spectrum Protect.

What is it?
It is a backup window, a time window defined by the user in which backups take place, the user can specify what VMs get backed up first etc.

Why would it be useful?
Lets say you are backing up a massive VM, sized by a few TBs. If the backup takes longer than X amount of hours, the backup would then still be ongoing in morning hours, meaning it could overload or cause issues on the network. Since backups are not an easy load to handle.

What would happen if the backup falls out of the "window" ?
The backup would be cancelled and the admin would be notified what VMs did not backup.

I have linked a doc page if you would be interested, the feature is described there.

Hi, it would be great if you could also add your suggestion to bugzilla.proxmox.com. There it certainly won't get lost like it could happen in the forum because of the amount of new posts.
