Hi all
Is there a way to add storage space to an existing VM, without expanding the current VM.
I wanted to add another HDD to the system, similar to the way a HDD can be added to a physical system.

Tom

Sure. Just add a new disk image then activate/create partition from Administrative Tools > Computer Management in Windows. You can use it as 2nd drive or span the existing drive. If you have hotplug enable for your VM, you wont even need to reboot your windows.

Hi Wasim
Do you mean create another Win Server 2008 VM ??
No.

Go into your VM settings for that VM. Hardware, add, hard drive.

You will need to shut the VM down completely and boot it back up before the VM will see the extra hard drive.

Not really, you don't need to stop you vm to add the second hd, if you have the "hot plug" option on you should be able to added and start using it. Of course you must formatted firsts

Hi all
Thanks for the advise, all working now.
I added the drive as an IDE, Can I change it to Virtio?
And would I get better Performance?
Would I loose data on that drive in the change over?

Tom

Thanks Mir
I have done a few recoveries by
Setting up new Machine, install proxmox, update, load Backup.
What do I have to do recovering when another drive is involved?
Do I have to call it the same etc??
