A system on a mini PC with a connected docking station HDD

Good day!
I need a compact and roomy server at the same time. I plan to transfer Proxmox to a Mini pc (it is possible to install only NVME & 1x 2.5 SDD/HDD), but for VM NAS Xpenology I need several HDDs in RAID. And so the idea came up to connect a Type-C or USB 4 docking station with RAID support and 4-5 HDD. And hence a few questions... 1. What kind of substations do you use? 2. How will the disks be detected in Proxmox (USB device or each separately, as if connected via SATA)? 3. How will the disks get into VM & VC? 4. How well will RAID work? 5. Or offer your own version of how to do better. You can, of course, assemble the server in parts in the SFF case, but it can be more expensive and larger in size, so I consider it as an extreme option.

Then buy hardware that does what you want

I second this.

Better get hardware, that fits your needs; instead of trying to make unsuitable (for your needs) hardware fit with (often scuffed) workarounds...
