I have 2 NIC's on a Dell R610 one is using IP 98.179.240.a going to 1 Vm, fully functional and the other IP 98.179.240.b I would like to configure to anther vm
they both have the same subnet, Gateway and DNS settings both are Linux Servers 18.04. how is this done, my modem has one port bridge and I have assigned the 98.179.240.b IP to the server with all the network information. I have looked at a couple of documents here and frankly they give way to much information. especially to a new person to ProxMox

Why do you need a second NIC if they're both on the same modem, gateway, ...?

Wouldn't it be enough if there's one, and that one is on the default vmbr0 Linux Bridge, the VMs then have their virtual NICs also on that bridge and each the same network settings with their own IP?

The modem is setup to port forward 80 to IP 98.179.240.a and the modem does not allow me to forward port 80 to another IP, so the Internet provider made one port a Bridge and I put 98.179.240.b on the other server Vm

If there is a different way, I am really into making less of a headache for both of us, easy is always good

I do have Proxmox VE Community Subscription for 2 CPU, is there somewhere else I should be posting for assistance

So you have two public IPs but still have to use NAT for them, hmm.. OK.

Then just add a second Linux Bridge to the Proxmox VE node, the second NIC should be a slave of it. Then set the NIC of the VM to use that bridge, you should be able to setup access then the exact same way as for VM one, just with the .b address.

Wow complicated:
I have had a port (8) on my modem set to a bridge, my ISP has told me to set my server up with the public IP and that should work, I would like to use the 2nd port on the back of the server to plug that port (8) into and have it communicate with the 2nd VM. The first port is current being used by another VM

No not on 98.179.240.b the ISP has opened port 8 on the modem as a bridge and I was told to assign the IP info on the server its self. the other IP 98.179.24.a is assigned and using nat on a working webserver, If I try install this application it will overwrite the apache2 settings and probably mess up the other working Domains
