I have a doubt, I have many VM's on my Proxmox Server (Windows, Linux, Mac, Androids) when I create a new VM, it asks me for the kind of OS (Windows, Linux or "Other").
Once created, the system automatically creates a qm.conf with the name of the VMID Virtual Machine.
I'm trying to import a Tenable .ova into Proxmox so I follow these steps.
1) Downloaded the .ova from - https://www.tenable.com/downloads/tenable-appliance?loginAttemted=true&loginAttempted=true#tenablecore-nessus
2) Used scp to transfer it to my Proxmox
3) Then I used tar xvf example to get my...
USAGE: qm importovf <vmid> <manifest> <storage> [OPTIONS]
Create a new VM using parameters read from an OVF manifest
<vmid> <integer> (1 - N)
The (unique) ID of the VM.
This is from man qm
So it seems vmid can't be smaller than 100. This confused me. Would somebody please correct...
Good day all,
Apologies if this has been asked before but multiple web searches have not provided an answer. I have a need to be able to quickly spawn a linked clone with a specific VMID. When the clone boots into windows for the first time I want a powershell script to query its VMID...
Web UI shows me the recommended virtual machine id:
How can I get this recommended ID via Proxmox API in order to avoid collisions while creating virtual machines?
The best scenario of course is when I can send POST request without specifying vm id myself and let proxmox assign it for me...
I have an idea for an enhancement of vzdump: when creating a backup job, it would be great to have an option to store the guest's NAME in the backup filename (in addition to the VM ID).
So with the option disabled the filenames would look unchanged:
