Is it possible to use and install a 5.15 kernel with Proxmox 8.0.3 (Linux 6.2.16-3-pve) ?
I seem to have understood and read that kernel 5.15 is much more stable than version 6.2.X under Proxmox.
- Intel i5 10500T
- 40GB RAM
- 128GB NVME SSD für das System
while upgrading from Proxmox 7 to 8, we encountered a significant issue during the migration from kernel 5.15 to 6.2 and vice versa.
All the machines were frozen.
Furthermore, when attempting to migrate from kernel 6.2 to 6.2, but with QEMU from 8 to 7, Proxmox became upset...
I have been experiencing issues with one of the nodes in my cluster recently where I am unable to create, snapshot, backup, or restore VMs or CTs. The only "fix" is to hard reboot the node. All the VMs and CTs come back online and operations work fine for a while but eventually everything hangs...
I have been happily using proxmox for years, but I reasonably recently started doing raw zfs send/recv of encrypted datasets from my main host to a backup host. I have been getting intermittent kernel panics for a while now, I finally setup console logging and managed to capture one...
I've now tried twice, with the process I'm using being a standard install of Debian 11 with an encrypted LVM, then following along the wiki guide to convert this install to PVE. Upon installing the pve-kernel, the system hangs on "loading initial ramdisk" on boot.
So far I've tried both the...
I have been running 5.15.74-1-pve just fine, and am able to boot this kernel release without any problems. 5.15.83-1-pve will hang and require a power cycle to get back into the boot prompt to select another kernel.
I have already tried 'update-initramfs -k all -u' and 'pve-efiboot-tool...
ich nutze aktuell die Proxmox PVE Version 7.3-3 mit dem Kernel 5.15.74-1-pve mit einem 4 x Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-8300 CPU @ 3.70GHz (1 Socket) Prozessor.
Das System läuft komplett fehlerfrei.
Sobald ich jedoch ein System Upgrade inkl. Aktualisierung des Kernels, von Version...
I installed the last version of Proxmox: 7.3-4 (running kernel: 5.15.83-1-pve). And then, after a week the server became unreachable and a hard reset was necessary (through Hetzner interface).
In order to understand the origin of the problem I looked at kernel logs belonging to the time before...
Proxmox was restarted unintentionally, so now Proxmox did not boot.
Booting `Proxmox VE GNU/Linux '
Loading Linux 5.15.83-1-pve
After displaying this, it crashes directly and stops responding.
Do you have any ideas what this could be?
Starting about GRUB with the Version 5.15.30-2-pve it...
ich habe jetzt über das Rescue Script bei Hetzner Debian11 mit ext4 im raid1 installiert.
Danach habe ich proxmox drauf gepackt.
Ich wollte jetzt die alten kernels löschen.

After apt update / upgrade my kernel went from 5.11.22-7-pve to 5.15.64-1-pve but now gets stuck at 'Loading initial ramdisk...'
Adding the nomodeset makes no difference, still no messages are shown.
Starting PVE with the 5.11.22-7-pve kernel works without issues.
I run PVE on:
Hallo liebe Community,
I tried running some updates on my server like I do a lot but for some reason this time it completely broke my apt. The latest 5.15 kernel just won't install and I've tried everything that I could find online to fix it. Only thing left that I can do is delete old kernels that are still installed...
This is very strange. We have a 6-node cluster. The newest node is the only one with a Xeon Platinum 8358. The others are mostly Xeon Gold 6154. The newest node had over 100 VMs. Out of the blue, a few VMs on the newest node started to malfunction. They weren't frozen, we could still log-in, and...
Hi I am running Proxmox 7.2 inside Virtualbox istalled in Ubuntu 22.04.ins
Just updated a kernel to 5.15.39-2-pve and PVE started to throw the error

not sure if this thread (https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/kernel-panic-since-update-to-proxmox-7-1.101164/#post-437435) is related but since we updated to PVE7.2 we have repeated crashes with kernel message
