[SOLVED] Creating a cluster using an existing server with live VMs

Hello! I know this gets asked from time to time (I have searched!) but the answers are usually a bit inconclusive and nobody ever comes back to say "that worked!" so I'm going to ask to be sure, because if I get this wrong I am in a world of hurt. I have an existing standalone server, PVE04. I...

Best way to migrate between clusters?

Thankyou for the advice. I'll add more space to the backup storage and more fibre to everything and hope for the best then!

Best way to migrate between clusters?

Hello! I'm about to move a lot of VMs off of an old server and on to a band new cluster. Old server has a big lump of local storage and the VMs have mostly qcow2 disks. New cluster has almost no local storage, with LVM on iSCSI being home for disk images. Most VMs I can move easily enough by...

    Remote Windows 2012 P2V Conversion

Not sure if you're still preparing for this, but I've found using a cloud-based backup provider (I won't mention the one I used because I don't want to be accused of shilling) that does bare metal restores will let you move without needing to boot to an image on the source side. If the site has...

[SOLVED] Emails don't ever seem to arrive / smtp test can't connect

That's the really weird part - I can connect from outside via telnet and can see it in the logs. Just not actual mail traffic. Very, very weird. Upon further inspection, it was a firewall issue - some geoip stuff blocking areas where the mailsevers lived. Thank you for the help!

[SOLVED] Emails don't ever seem to arrive / smtp test can't connect

Hello! I'm feeling very stupid right now and I don't expect that to change. I've set up a new PMG instance to catch inbound mail while we move an exchange server to a new location and then hopefully to act as a filter in future. To test it before relying on it, I've updated the MX record for an...

Very bad iSCSI performance despite no config change

Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction; it's been a rough few days - I'll jump on this like I should have done at the very start.

Bad iSCSI performance in Proxmox 6. Very good in Proxmox 5.4-3

Hello, did you ever find a solution to this problem?

Very bad iSCSI performance despite no config change

Hello! I have a small cluster with my VMs living on LVM over iSCSI on a hp msa2050 SAN. I built it back in January and it was nice and quick - didn't even bother with multipath or any tuning because even with 10+ VMs running, it was fast enough. I left it running, doing nothing, until this...

[SOLVED] Unable to delete volumes in LVM no SAN over iSCSI

Updae: one of the cluster members was somehow holding that file open, once I forced a reboot I was able to delete it. I now have new problems, naturally, but this is no longer one of them. Hello, I am sleep deprived so please bear with me. In additon to sudden mysterious performance trouble...

[SOLVED] I broke LVM on iSCSI in a cluster. Can it be fixed?

After removing the lvm and recreating it, it seems to be prety much ok now. One member has intermittent connetivity issues, could be something weird with the config, could be the switch is garbage. My next step is to look into MPIO which might sort the problem if it is the switch. Thank you so...

[SOLVED] I broke LVM on iSCSI in a cluster. Can it be fixed?

Thank you for the reply; it steered me in the right direction so far! I removed everything, detached all the iscsi sessions, created a new storage entity, and while I couldn't create a new LVM storage in the gui I was able to using that command. However, it looks like the new storage hasn't...

[SOLVED] I broke LVM on iSCSI in a cluster. Can it be fixed?

I think I'm in a bit of trouble here. We have a san and it took a lot of effort to get working, but eventually it did through some miracle. I added LVM on top and the first two memebs of the cluster saw it without trouble. Then I realised the other members of the cluster hadn't been set up to...

[SOLVED] iSCSI storage shared in a cluster

Hello! I know this question gets asked a lot, but there are a lot of different answers so I thought I'd at least try to get a recent one. I'm trying to add a shared storage to a cluster. I think it goes - define storage on SAN - in storage under datacentre, add iscsi - ensure all members of...

[SOLVED] Is there an equivalent of HyperV's internal switch?

I ought to be ashamed of myself, that did the trick. I also found that connecting them to the same 'real' bridge and giving them the same vlan id would also isolate them and connect them virtually directly. Thanks!

[SOLVED] Is there an equivalent of HyperV's internal switch?

That sounds so incredibly sensible! I'll give it a crack shortly - thankyou!

[SOLVED] Is there an equivalent of HyperV's internal switch?

Hello! My apologies if this has been asked and answered; I have had a bit of a search but couldn't find a solution my sleep deprived brain could handle. Basically: I need to create a link between two VMs on the same host - nic in guest a connected to a virtual switch, nic in guest b also...

Importing to zfs pool from another server?

Hello! Thank you for the reply. In the end I created a regular vollume using hardware raid and copied files over using scp. There are still two vms on the old host (not clustered, not running proxmox) so what I'll do in the future is a bit painful: - move last two vms to new host - rebuild old...

Importing to zfs pool from another server?

Hello! I'm trying to move a vm from a basic kvm server (running on redhat) to another host. I've set up the new host with zfs storage because later I want to add a second box and test migration and replication. I have a vm on the old host that is held in a file server.img, on a regular file...
