    Proposal: Proxmox User Group

Well 9 years later I've remembered this thread! Mostly because someone on IRC reminded me to look at any threads where I'd mentioned the unofficial channel (and update the fact it's not just on freenode any longer). Amazingly that poll was still online too! It would seem they're not...

    Proposal: Proxmox User Group

You mean if someone has lied? I didn't lie at any point, it was just a couple of suggestions and a poll for peoples thoughts.

    Proposal: Proxmox User Group

I wasn't quite expecting such hostile-like replies here really, perhaps I've been misunderstood? I'll try to clarify... I already do have an account on the wiki, and I'm not saying the wiki policy is "bad" it's just not quite the spirit of other wiki's which are mostly about "anyone can...

    Proposal: Proxmox User Group

Note: The introduction bit of this post was updated 31/05/2021 to reflect all the other networks the unofficial channel is now on. Hi, A bunch of us run an unofficial Proxmox channel (covering any product including VE) on the Libera.Chat / freenode / OFTC IRC networks as well as a few other...

    Virtual NIC to Interface ties...

So your saying if I had two virtual NIC's both point at vmbr0 they'd both be called vlan0 in the config file? Isn't that like saying if two virtual hard disks both pointed to the same hard disk image they'd both be called ide0 or something?

    Virtual NIC to Interface ties...

    Virtual NIC to Interface ties...

Hey, So you've got a KVM machine, you click on the Hardware tab and look at the ethernet devices and see this... Ethernet devices Model Bridge MAC address rtl8139 vmbr0 DA:F4:46:F9:9A:46 rtl8139 vmbr1 E2:0D:8F:A2:7D:3C rtl8139 vmbr2 D6:9E:67:7F:CA:A7 So I get that the...

    IRC ##proxmox on Freenode

The new IRC channel ##proxmox on Freenode is now open. Please be advised this is an UNOFFICIAL support channel which is why this channel has a double hash in a similar way to ##linux or ##vyatta The other channel "#proxmox" hopefully will be evacuated as time goes by, there is no active...

    Irc

OK so I realize this post is now over a year old but I've been in and out of #proxmox regularly in that time to notice the count going up and up and up - currently as I speak there are 24 people in #proxmox on Freenode. However the channel was registered way back in 2008 by a nick called...

New Proxmox VE kernel branch 2.6.35 - with KSM support

Well for my part, I've been running 2.6.35 from pvetest for two days now on a production environment (yeah I'm a risk taker) and so far so good. Look forward to it entering stable when it's ready. Can we get a confirmation off the Proxmox VE dev's that Proxmox VE 2.x will include LXC...

    Kernel 2.6.32, OpenVZ + Java

Mikael, In 2.6.27 the --swappages option was added, so 2.6.32 should have this option too. It fakes the idea of having real swap to the container - thus it's supposed to eliminate Java taking too much memory. From what I've read in the wiki, the Proxmox VE GUI when it asks for Memory and Swap...

Removal of KSM in 1.6 was a bad idea (my opinion)

I don't think the release notes should have said KSM was removed... not because KSM should have been included but because stating that simply makes no sense. Proxmox VE have time and again said that the kernels are branched off in to the... KVM Only KVM/OpenVZ So the kernel that is bundled...

Removal of KSM in 1.6 was a bad idea (my opinion)

I'm thrilled we finally have 2.6.32 out with both KVM/OpenVZ support as it should fix the fake swap issues that OpenVZ had for anyone ever having Java memory overcommitment issues. Edit: Nevermind on everything else... I just caught up.

    Community help

Hey, OK... so I see a Wiki, I see a forum and now I see an IRC channel... This is an open source project licensed under GPLv2... And yes the obligation that comes with that is at this address... ftp://download.proxmox.com/sources/ Buuuuuuut.... surely we can get more bugs fixed, more features...

Survey: Proxmox VE Kernel with or without OpenVZ?

We'll it has already been demonstrated that people can and have developed other kernels, we have already seen the i386 OpenVZ only kernel in the repository. The question is will you let those people become a part of the team so their efforts can be included on the ISO itself? Also obviously...

    OpenVZ veth0 vs eth0

And how about this nugget? is this for their bugtracker too? Does Proxmox VE even have one?

    Backups and snapshots...

You don't need that... LVM provides all the snapshots you need. But am I right in thinking dietmar... that you need a snapshot mode that works specifically with KVM? i.e. so that KVM can pause, manage snapshots, etc itself and Proxmox just be a GUI for that functionality?

    OpenVZ machines don't restart

Is version 2.6.32 of OpenVZ the one your are working on bringing in now? Or another newer, but not as new as that OpenVZ kernel?

    No MTA please

My point is... without going in to the template and modifying the regional settings manually and removing region-related packages that you don't need... Is there a way of feeding the regional settings to it when it's generating the template in the first place? Where does it get those settings...
