Ok, learning a lot here!
Does this mean that the MX records of my domain are "open up" for everybody to use?
I have a fastmail account and I guess that postfix uses my domain's MX records to send the mail.
But I don't get the part that it doesn't need some kind of authentication.
Thanks for your reply, @Lukas Wagner . Please see the (default) target that is configured in my home server. This is the default setting. Please note, I'm a home-user (newby), so I may be missing knowledge here :).
But what email server does my proxmox server currently use, while sending email...
Hey, I used to configure my proxmox server for sending emails using my own smtp server. I did that by following the steps written down in this thread. Now recently I have installed a fresh version of proxmox (latest version) and it seems like it is able to send emails out-of-the-box, right?
How...
Related to my previous topic about SPICE, I was thinking: what is the most performant way to remote-controll a desktop on a VM? I find VNC a bit underperforming. I'm not sure if that's macOS related though. I want to take over the screen of Ubuntu desktop, which runs as a VM. What is the best...
Is it possible to completely disable TLS / certificates with spice connections?
I'm using tailscale to "open up" my proxmox server, so I don't need tls for spice connections.
Is there a way to disable tls?
Ok, you have a lot of points there :). Second try, now using a NUC. My aim is to install proxmox on the samsung 980 pro, which is an PCle 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD.
Then, for storage purposes, I will add another NVMe M.2 SSD drive, possible a 2 TB. And indeed my aim is to pass-through that drive to the...
I came up with this final configuration.
Any thoughts? Would this be a nice, power-efficient homeserver for proxmox?

Hey @Dunuin , thanks for your good feedback! I have a follow-up question. The past few days I indeed passed-though to a VM by getting the /disk-by-id value and configuring the VM to attach that disk. This works fine.
But I want to do it the same way as you describe, so passing-through the REAL...
Hey, thanks! I haven't considered this option.
You mean this, right? (And this)
I was thinking too complex I guess.
I thought that I had to create a virtual hard disk for the VM and use THAT as the storage location.
Then I foresee all kinds of troubles like huge backups, etc.
I will try to...
I was wondering: what is the best approach for me to run a samba share on my proxmox host. Please note: I'm talking about a home-server, please don't worry about HA and stuff like that. I only want my local machines (in the local network) to be able to connect to a hard drive that is physically...
Hey, I need a bit of advice here for my home server. Currently I'm running Proxmox on a 2014 PC with a Intel Pentium G3240 on a Asrock B85M PRO4 mainboard. This does the job fine, but I want something new. Also, the hardware is almost 10 years old now, so it's time for something new. I found the...
I have a question about the performance of my Ubuntu 22.04 VMs, running on my home server. In Proxmox 8, the default CPU is "×86-64-v2-AES'. When I keep using this setting, then the performance is really bad. However when I change the setting to "Default (kvm64)", then everything works really...
