I have tried on proxmox erasure coded pool with cache and it is too slow.
I have searched for an explanation and it is very simple: the cache uses chunks very big. So if chace misses one byte it reads at least 1mb from erasure coded pool.
End of the story.
But now ceph luminous has ovewrites...
Hello,
I am trying to run some linux based (ubuntu, suse) virtual machines under proxmox using spice client.
I have an ultra hd (3840x2160) monitor and when I run the spice client even if that resolution is recognized by the virtual machine then I cannot switch to it because the "apply" command...
Hi,
Have installed proxmox on a disk but now I would like to move the installation to another drive.
It uses lvm so I can do most part of disk migration/copy online.
But I now see partition table:
1)bios boot
2)efi system
3)linux lvm
I am worried how can I copy the first two partitions on a new...
Hello,
I have an 8 hosts proxmox+ceph cluster.
Yesterday one hdd broke. While reconstructing proxmox ha decided to hard reboot some servers.
Now ceph has some incomplete pgs and refuses to do i/o on all pool.
So I cannot start and/or recover any vm.
What can I do?
I am in contact with ceph...
Hello,
I am using proxmox 4.1 with ceph. I have lost the ceph pool where I have VMs (long story but I have had to destroy it).
Now when I create a new VM the storage box stays greyed out, probably waiting for ceph pool that will never come back.
I have tried creating an empty pool with same...
Hello,
Imagine this, I have some servers with 16 cores each and one emergency server with 4 cores.
I migrate an 8 vcpus machine to the emergency server but proxmox stops me because the virtual machine has more cores than the server.
I think the virtual machine can run, albeit at reduced...
Hello,
I have two 82571EB based (e1000e) network cards that do not work with proxmox.
The cards are recognized by kernel but light on the ports are off and if I put a cable they do not see it.
Before loading os the ports light are on (green and orange blinking)
If I boot with a centos livecd...
Hello,
I see fence_* commands in my path but I would like to know if there is a complete list of fencing hardware.
I am particulary interested in:
- fencing with quorum disk
- fencing with ssh
- self fencing
- as last resort meatware fencing.
Thanks,
Mario
First many thanks for your reply!
I need some details:
- point 3): what is a "diff image file"?
- point 4): where is vm config I need to modify?
Thanks,
Mario
Hello,
I have a nas with an nfs share for proxmox images.
Inside I have several proxmox vms that I have created with "linked clone" from a base image.
Now I bought a new, faster and bigger nas. I have created a nfs volume and added it to proxmox.
Now how can I migrate all my vms with their...
Hello,
I have made a proxmox cluster with two nodes to have this features:
- live migration of virtual machines, for load balancing and for easy maintenance of a server;
- autostart of some virtual machines at cluster start.
I understand that proxmox is based on corosync and I understand...
Hello,
I have some servers where I would like to try proxmox.
They have one ssd and several hdds without raid controller.
I would like to install proxmox on ssd and use hdds for ceph.
Can I reserve some ssd space for ceph journal?
Thanks,
Mario
If I have three nodes I do not need a quorum disk as tie breaker.
I am fixing the quorum disk but, while I am fixing it, the cluster is down...
So, tell me, what is the purpose to buy two servers to have an HA cluster if at first little problem all cluster is down?
Hello,
I have followed your guides and built a two servers cluster with quorum disk.
Unfortunately my quorum disk has broken yesterday.
I now see that in the servers rgmanager does not start anymore and so VMs cannot start.
So the quorum disk now is a single point of failure.
I need that qdisk...
My experience is very different from yours. And I have a quadcore computer as client connected to a gigabit ethernet with a unloaded switch to the server.
Anyway this don't bother me. Because I need to use vnc under ADSL connection and there it is too much slow. And it is because no vnc...
Hello,
I am using proxmox and a kvm machine via the java vnc console you provide.
It is very slow, expecially on slow connection because your vnc is configured to not compress (e.g.: jpeg) data.
I have tried to use an external vnc reading forums and tutorials but the best I was able to reach is...
