I tried to use self encrypting disks (SED) and use the sedutil (https://github.com/Drive-Trust-Alliance/sedutil)
However I get an error message, that some kernel flag is not set correctly? What is the problem (there are others people who seem to to use sedutil successfully)...
How to reactivate a temporarily missing disk in a mirred pool?
zpool status
pool: data1
state: DEGRADED
status: One or more devices could not be used because the label is missing or
invalid. Sufficient replicas exist for the pool to continue
functioning in a degraded state...
This standard feature should be incorporated into the UI.
At best it would be possible to have several outgoging SMTP-smart hosts, which are used according to the sending domain.
It would be very nice if this feature could be incorporated into the UI.
Like you have inbound transport destinations there should be outbound transport destinations for smart hosts with authentification.
Then it would be possible to have the Mailgateway a a multi domain inbound and outbound...
Are there any news from the proxmox team.
1) Outgoing smart host WITH authentication to the provider smart host.
2) Outgoging smarts hosts depending on destination domain (also with authentication)
I use cryptsetup for full disk encryption.
The disk has just one partition which is fully encrypted with some subpartitions in the encrypted part. The pools use these encrypted subpartitions.
When the server is reboot (after entering password on the keyboard at boot time), the server does...
I stopped the VM and restartet it, but two things remained
1) An extra ZFS columne named vm-113-state-part
2) An extra section named "[part]" in the config file which references the zfs volume in 1)
How to remove this?
Can I just delete the section "part" and remove the zfs volume?
I suspended a VM and tried to resume it. This does not work and issues the following error:
Resuming suspended VM
activating and using 'vmdata1zfs:vm-113-state-suspend-2023-01-18' as vmstate
kvm: Missing section footer for 0000:00:01.3/piix4_pm

I also need the possibility to configure a output smart host to be able to also send outbound mails from the internal mail server via PMG. Currently outbound mail is the from the internal mail server directly via the providers smart host, so the virus filtering possibilities from PMG is lost...
In normal operation of proxmox without administrative intervention apart from start/stop/replicate/move from the GUI, there is in fact to real risk of skipping a single backup, and even than it would not really be that bad.
IF aministrative manipulation takes place at the lower level, the...
As alread said, if you fear corruption because of undetected changes, the safe way is to have an option to skip the backup of unstarted VMs. This garanties integrity. At most a backup could be missing, if special manual changes occur, but in this case the admin just has to force a backup for...
That is error prone. PBS should be able to efficiently backup unchanged, switched of VMs and containers. Unfortunately PBS is extremly bad in handling these cases, even though there are the simpliest cases for most other backup systems. So we have three problem:
1) Extremly slow backup of large...
How does PBS backup templates? Is there any special handling of them? They also do not get started and should be read every backup, unless they have been modified (by converting back to normal vm, starting and reconverting to template).
The option to skip VMs not started after the last backup...
1) It's true, that someone could modify the underlying storage. A malicious person can always corrupt data, but this is not the case in normal operation. An option to keep bitmaps, would be a good thing.
2) Another solution would be, that there is an option for PBS to skip backups of VMs, which...
