I dont know if its motherboard fake raid or not.. its a supermicro board.

I didnt think it was wise to have boot on the RAID volums.. ?
maybe I'm just confused? The SATA drives are 1.5TB.

a server dedicated to collecting syslog events for various devices- i.e. hosts, routers, switches. syslog-ng seems to be a good application to base such an appliance upon.

I have a couple of setup questions for a new install. My server chassis does not have room for any ide drives but my motherboard has a IDE header. The chassis has slots for several removable SATA drives. I'm thinking of using a 4GB compact flash with IDE interface to have the proxmox...
on my main proxmox environment, I wanted to install icewm..
any problems or issues doing that? I know this is a server and not desktop environment.. but I'm just experimenting... and this is my main machine..

happens to me every once in a while, too.. seems to go away after removing and rebuilding the VM. and being very careful not to enter any erroneous key strokes during the VM install/build off iso.
I have an install of proxmox running.. from the command prompt I ran apt-get update and apt-get upgrade..
now I went ot create my first VM. I'm using a kubuntu iso image.
It seems to run.. but I get some java error trying to view it when I click on VNC. "open VNC console".
My web browser...
I'll try a few things. I dont currently have any blank CDs, only DVDs. The ISO burned ok onto the DVD... it should not matter, should it not? jsut a lot of extra wasted unused space? I had no problems installling Ubuntu on this machine.

It looks exactly like the install video at 00:09 seconds. It boots to that level and then does nothing else. Keyboard input is non-responsive.
My motherboard is : Gigabyte GA-MA78G-DS3H and I have 4 GB of RAM.
The hard-drive and DVD-ROM burner drive are connected via SATA. The keyboard...
I thought I'd try installing proxmox. I downloaded the iso and burned to a disc. (dvd) The disc performs the initial boot. then never goes further. it just hangs.
any suggestions? I'm using AMD tri cpu on a gigabyte motherboard with built in ATI video.
