I realize that binary is in the kvm package but installing that package would uninstall all the Proxmox VE packages also.
I was hoping some how the 'qm' command would have the -M, -osk, and -kernel options... or a way to give them to it.
I'm dying to know this too... I've done a little bit of work on it using the work found here http://alex.csgraf.de/self/ but Proxmox is hardly a conventional KVM install and that last command qemu-system-x86_64 doesn't even exist to create the virtual machines with all the extra options.
Well it's nice to see someone else required these packages... knew it was possible just couldn't be arsed to find some kit and compile it!
Can we please please please put these binaries and official instructions up on the Wiki?
We can't be the only people who wanted this.
Also having on the...
Hi Pille,
I wasn't intending on making a CD.
However if you install Debian Lenny then install the Ubuntu kernel that comes with OpenVZ (what the Proxmox team modifies to make their own kernel)
http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/linux-image-2.6.24-16-openvz
Recompile any the packages needed for...
Actually it _is_ possible to install Proxmox VE on a 32-bit only capable processor server.
Just use the standard kernel for Ubuntu from the OpenVZ team and install the debian packages manually from the Proxmox repositories (the _all.deb ones will work fine, the amd64 ones are better being...
OK I've been digging...
As far as I can tell most of the packages are cross platform, these are the only packages of concern...
vzctl <- i386 debian builds already exists
vzprocps <- i386 debian builds already exists

Lo,
Soon we'll be getting a new Dell R200 to use as our head (with KVM support on the quad Xeon). But for now I'd love to start building openvz machines (not kvm) on our existing machine (which is not amd64 capable). If Proxmox VE is just a collection of small utilities/scripts plus a (I'm...
Do you have any more information on that?
Like a script or guide you follow when using it (or just an idea on the steps perhaps with example commands). The only reason I ask if I've been googling for a couple of days now (and asking in the Debian channel) and can't find any good guides on it's...
Hey folks,
Love Proxmox VE as I think all of us do or we wouldn't be here...
I'm wondering if perhaps the team could reveal to us the method they used to mix the CD ISO? From what I understand it's a Debian Lenny netinst, with LVM mode set, and your packages installed.
Can you tell us how...
They've never tried to run it in either, only in VMWare...
Earlier you said "no change"
The untangle folks have looked at this post and think you might have meant "no chance"... was that a typo?
All I was asking in my last post was if an installation program goes about patching a kernel or...
Sorry could you elaborate on...
"no change to have this in OpenVZ."
Are you trying to say that this will run in OpenVZ fine? (in which case if it attempts to modify the kernel - will it work?)
Or are you saying "no change" as in no change to the fact it still won't work?
I don't miss anything, what I was thinking about doing (but probably won't now) was this...
Look at Untangle (www.untangle.com)... it's like an open source network gateway appliance (UTM) that runs on Debian Lenny. They have a baremetal installer like Proxmox does (also works in VMware) but...
Well from what I understand it's like Ubuntu's 2.6.24 or something, with KVM and OpenVZ modules...
So... unless someone has a handy guide to how it was done for 2.6.24, I don't really want to attempt to make a 2.6.26.
It doesn't matter anyway, I'll probably end up making the machine using KVM...
See the subject :D
I'm hoping it's 2.6.26 or 2.6.27 which OpenVZ now have on offer, got a few patches of my own I would like to put into the kernel which a openvz virtual machine will need (but the patches work with 2.6.26 onwards).
I agree with the 90% of people who have stated loosing OpenVZ would be an utter disaster.
I looked to Proxmox VE after looking at VTonf for an alternative to Virtuozzo. Paravirtualization is still _the_ most efficient way to run your (linux based) virtual servers. And an argument that only...
Hi RenatoMN,
I've noticed a few posts of yours up and about and it seems like you represent a company offering VPS's to customers using Proxmox as your control panel. Do you have a web site for the company, so I can look at what packages you offer as I am in need of a VPS in the united states...
Well as an example package I've seen off fsckvps.com...
512MB RAM (1GB Burst), 30Gb Disk Space, 400Gb Transfer (approx 600Mhz guaranteed) – $9.95/mo
Thats not to say we'd use all that... but it's a good price. Basically we host a few projects that have more of an american user base... already...
Hey,
Simply put I'm tired of skimming past VPS hosters in the US trying to work out if they're virtuozzo, xen, vmware, or worse hypervm...
So if you use OpenVZ and Proxmox and you can offer a VPS in the US let me know.
We are a non-profit open source foundation in the UK and need a US...
The templates they use are in plain sight on their repository...
http://updates.aventurin.net/pub/Aventurin/COMMON/RPMS/
I have it running inside a Proxmox/OpenVZ install right now...
Here are the complete instructions (SSH into your Debian head)...
cd /tmp
wget...
