    remote storage ?

On the PBS homepage we can see on the screenshot multiple storages that seem remote = I'm curious how these storas are mounted. Are they remotes or only local? Or does it means there are clusters that store to a remote PBS not always in the same network?

HP DL380 Gen10 PVE advice for Raid Controller

that's actually a good question. On the DL360 I have to put the boot on the smartcard to be able to use the hba mode. Is there anyway to do it during the installation?

nfs looks trendy on the proxmox platform: so nfs or iscsi ?

I recently discovered that a lot of people around me are using nfs instead of iscsi on a PVE platform. The main reason for it seems that it’s easier to backup an nfs-based solution thaan an iscsi one, since on The remote disk everything is a file. Is this a general trend? What would bring...

LVM calculate storage size for snaphots and vz?

I got lucky to get and old but still performant HP Proliant DL360 G6 with 2x480GB disks in hardware raid 1. I am wondering if there are anyt rules to calculate the size needed for lvm during installation. How to calculate the size of free space for snapshots vs spaces for vm? Also what minimum...

    ceph + vm localisation

I am using ceph mostly as a convenient way to abstract storage on the server. I was wondering if I choose to have a 1-copy pool, there is a way to create the vm on the same machine the storage will be created. Is this already the case?

usb disk passthrough for PBS & cache?

In a small setup (mostly for testing for now) I am deploying PBS inside a proxmox VM. Data will be stored in a usb external storage since that machine can't have more disks. Should I use the usb storage as a usb device inside the vm or better to use it as a disk and mount a zfs storage in...

    [SOLVED] separate nic for corosync?

I know that ideally corosync has to run on distinct networks , especially when used with ceph. But I wonder if in practice if it's useful when you put the traffic of ceph in its own switch and other traffic on another? Ie.: SWITCH 1...

install PBS in a VM or along a PVE installation?

that would be kind of separate machine... just want to max out its usage waiting a proper machine. That's good to know about the kernel. the plan is indeed to test it until the machine arrive so a vm would do the trick and be safer probably

install PBS in a VM or along a PVE installation?

I am thinking to use a machine where I could launch a set of service (backup, stats, ...). I was thinking to launch them in separate VMS but I am unsure how to do it for PBS. Is this better to install it on the node using the debian packages instead alnong the PVE installation?Has anyone already...

backup server with remote storage or USB? (edited)

OK thanks for the answer. I will try. The only real thing now the I have to decide is if I will run PBS along PVE using debian packages or in a VM. The first one should work if they share their way to configure the system. The PRO of having it in PVE is the flexibility given for it to reuse...
