which nic/driver are you using? i expirienced similar problems with some intel nics. one machine didn´t work with tagged and untagged vlans at the same time, another didn´t work with vlan´s at all.

does it work if you unplug one nic? i saw the same behavior yesterday with a zyxel switch, after configuring the ports as trunk everything work ok

did you configured your switch correctly for bonding?

i would install a clean windows2k3 and restore with ntbackup from usb-disk

Every Raidcontroller is working without a bbu too, but there are some which can enable the writecache and some other features only if the bbu is connected. In case of a powerloss the bbu makes shure that the data in the writecache isn't lost.
