Hi

I have a cluster of 3 nodes. Everytime we perform an upgrade we run into troubles...

I've upgraded one of the 3 nodes (not the master) and now I can't live migrate a VPS ( KVM based ) from a node running 1.6 to a node 1.7.

Migration process returns SUCCES but cant ping/ssh nor vnc to the VPS. I must STOP the VPS and reboot it...

Question: How do I perform a upgrade of a cluster correctly? Master first en then nodes ? or...
ps: have some VPS that must stay 99,9% up

Kind Regards

Wouter

Hi,
you can allways use live migration only on the same host-kernels. Cluster-update without downtime for the VMs don't work.

Hi

Thanks for the reply. There goes our buble of upgrading by mirgation to other nodes... :-(

Just done a live mirgation between 2 proxmox nodes running 1.6 and that failed also... VPS was copied correctly from node-1 to node-2 but starting failed. After a STOP and START it works again.

Will upgrade the rest of the servers then to 1.7 by stopping all the VPS's. So that I have a correct working cluster again of 3 nodes on the same version 1.7 .

yes, but if you want you can add it by yourself as the wiki is a community tool - just register and add a note!

Tom,

Thx, will do that. Just fully upgraded the cluster to 1.7 and works good again. Making some plans to upgrade just 2 times a year, if needed..

ps: keep up the good work, proxmox is saving us money on hardware , electricity and time ( except now with the backup-fail/ upgrade-fail :-) ).

thanks for feedback - if you save/make money with Proxmox VE think of donating some bucks!
