My intel mother board has 1 PCIe 16x, 2 PCIe1x, 3 PCI slot and no video controller on board.
The raid controller is an adaptec 2045 with a PCIe 4x, if I plug it into the 16x slot I have no slot for the video card.
I used an old PCI video card, I installed and configured the raid controller, but when I insert the proxmox CD I lose the monitor.
Any tips?

Hi,
perhaps a bios setting (display adapter pcie/pci).
Another way is to install proxmox on a harddrive (smaller than your raidset). Than install your raidcontroller and boot a live-cd (like grml) and copy with dd the whole disk to the raidset. Perhaps you need to change /boot/grub/menu.lst and /etc/fstab (/boot-entry).
disconnect the harddisk and boot. If all runs fine create a new partition on the raidset to use the full space and expand the volumegroup pve with this partition. After that you can expand pve-data.

Thanks for the tips.
The thing I like most in Proxmox is its simplicity and speed of installation via DVD, so I would say, reading the above post, the best solution is to change the motherboard.
I also believe that changing the motherboard is the most economical solution considering the cost of time.
Isn't it?
