i think to use a mount unit or to use a service unit is a taste thing. and the latter allows user to enforce sandboxing -- to specify the capabilities and syscall hardening policies. but i agree that mount unit is a better solution for most...
Looking into zarcsummary thanks.
I suspect your suggestion is to use Ubuntu as a base system like Proxmox is in my current plan? So Ubuntu will have native performance but Windows and PBS will run in a VM either through VirtualBox or...
I dont think that would matter much, so long as the card is showing up enough for you to run the firmware updater, so probably dont be on one of the super broken kernel versions? Otherwise should be fine either way.

fwiw, our problem on the BCM57508 has been largely fixed and/or dormant with 7.0.14-22 and now 7.0.14-23, I don't see any instances of "bnxt_en" in our logs for the last 5 days or so since our last boot after upgrade, which is a good sign.

I am also having this exact issue with my all flash ME5024. My Proxmox support provider went through a bunch of testing with me and the best result so far was to use the "6.17.13-13-pve" kernel, as the issue arrived as soon as we updated the...
Hi! I am trying to stop using ssh to connect to my containers to reduce the amount of stuff that I need to keep track of, and I'm instead considering accessing a shell on them via pct enter.
Unfortunately, it seems that that pct enter does not...
Because (most likely) the HP Storage controller is not really standard, but something strange?
I don't know this for sure, but remember that the hardware of your box is already really old. Plus at some point, people stop validating new kernels...
I suppose I've derailed the topic with the Ceph comment...
Ceph was one step forward, two steps backwards for my production cluster, so I also stopped using it and only use ZFS replication currently. But I did want to run it somewhere, so:
For...

Yes. It is a security disaster waiting to happen. CPU "host" runs Windows 11 Pro on Proxmox 7, it is just the updates that don't work. I figured if it could boot Windows 11 and run software (including updating the antivirus definitions for...
Yes, it does the trick to create a working PBS.
No, it does not include the Kernel (by default):
