I wiped the disk entirely:
root@pve-1:/etc/systemd/system# dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda
I wiped the filesystem:
root@pve-1:/etc/systemd/system# wipefs -a /dev/sda
/dev/sda: 8 bytes were erased at offset 0xdf90355e00 (gpt): 45 46 49 20 50 41 52...
I understand. And what I need is something that can be restored to the original hardware as soon as possible, without reconfiguration. Ie. hardware dependent. Which should be a much simpler problem, in theory. Yet I can't find a way to do it live.
Danke für deinen Kommentar.
Zum be quiet! Pure Base 501 Airflow Black,:
das ist mit dabei, da es sich darin sehr gut Bauen lasse und die Qualität 1A ist.
Es genügend Platz für 3.5" HDDs und 2.5" SSDs hat, gedämpft ist.
Und für sehr guten Airflow...
This is a really neat approach. Using ZFS properties as the config layer feels way more “native” than juggling scripts, especially when you’ve got a lot of datasets to keep track of.
this is my version. testet with Proxmox 9.2.3
1. Network tool: nc.traditional (Hobbit netcat) cannot receive multiple UDP packets in sequence — -k there means "set TCP keepalive," not "keep listening." Replaced with socat -u UDP-RECVFROM:9,fork...
please read my entire post, especially that part:
i'm not writing about block level backup.
my approach is a highly optimized process for system restore, as hardware independent as possible.
This script seems related to the installation. I'm not at all looking for a way to reinstall. What I need is a backup/restore of a working Proxmox boot drive, bit for bit - not selectively .
I can do that very easily with various disk imaging...
i'm talking about the script https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Automated_Installation#First_Boot_Hook_Section
which technically of course could be ran manually after install.
i backup /etc and some other folders daily during runtime. restore during...

I don't know VMware but for Linux VM you can use ptp_kvm as the clock source: https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/how-to-enable-continuous-time-sync-between-qemu-guest-and-host.173396/#post-806460
Huhuu @Falk R.

Hi,
I'm getting ready to move a few KVM virtual machines from an Ubuntu server running libvirt to a new Proxmox VE host. Most of the VMs use QCOW2 disks, and they include both Linux and Windows guests.
I've read a few migration guides, but I'm...
Hey @chtourouy,
we ran into the same issue, make sure that all nodes from the source cluster can talk to all nodes from the destination cluster over the configured Web Interface port (default 8006, see Wiki https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Ports for...
