>In truth, I have often wondered why no such option exists for pve
but it does?
besides qdevice (which does not integrate well into proxmox, as you won't notice failure easily fore example), you can have full blown pve on any old small x86...
@RolandK agreed... my tone is one of frustration. Apologies!
It just seems like pushing a square peg into a round hole. Ceph is integrated, supported by PVE, and free. And yes, if you really must, you can run it on a Raspberry Pi, NUC, or...
The problem I have is that this post is entirely misleading. It's not a solution to a problem. If I need a machine to run a witness on, why not just run Ceph on it? It would be ridiculous to jump through these hoops and have less functionality...
So essentially, this is a blatant vendor advertisement of a commercial solution that is "easier than Ceph", yet has none of the features Ceph provides.
Based on my reading this is essentially an iscsi target with thick LVM on top of it. If so...
the theoretical maximum 4k frames on a 10gb interface is 300938@1500mtu, 302294@9k. just sayin. in practice you're going to be limited more by the storage than by the network anyway, but that just comes back to the initial point about...
Here is a good thing to keep in mind: Proxmox is a KVM-based solution. There are other KVM solutions, most of what you find about it is interchangeable.
As others said, you paid VMware a pretty penny, don’t be too stingy on support costs or talk...
You should also be aware that the vsphere portfolio doesnt overlap completely with PVE. I would begin by mapping out what your guests do, and what services do you depend on; do you use dswitches, vrops, storage plugins, nsx, etc.
1. Storage-...
Hi @TVKP , welcome to the forum.
All your questions are valid to ask. The answers, as usual, depend on variables that are too many to list them all.
1 Storage: the choices between centralized SAN and Distributed storage will be influenced by...
It is a bit of a catch-22 situation. PVE is elegantly straightforward to manage, and firms with strong Linux administration skills often find they do not require partner involvement. At the same time, forum members tend to be more technically...
Zumindest keines was nix kostet (mir ist zumindest keines bekannt).
