I've read a few different Zimbra related threads on here. I set it to 3072/3072 for the installation.

I am splitting up my Zimbra operation to 7 different servers (2 LDAP, 2 mailbox, 2 MTA, and 1 proxy). I don't have a high load on them at all.

I understand that Java allocates memory oddly and that I can force it to use a different amount of memory. How can I tell when I need to increase those memory settings?

My current server has an old AMD Athlon 32 bit on 1 gig of RAM and more than handles all web hosting, voice, email, etc. needs, so I'm not sure I really need 3 gigs of RAM allocated to one of the email servers. Well, until load increases. The "new" box has 4 gigs of RAM.

Hi, I'm going back here a couple of years off the top of my head so I might not have all the nuances.

The only problem I've run into when running zimbra virtualised is running it in an OpenVZ container that has 1GB or RAM allocated to it, but your entire machine actually has over 2GB in total system memory.

When the JVM searches for system limits it discovers the total system memory and sets the heap size into 'server' mode accordingly. Unfortunately this ate up most of the actual memory assigned to the container, and strangled zimbra. Manually setting the heap size solved the problem.

Other than this issue that seems related to how openvz reports system limits, I havn't had any issues with java and memory with zimbra in OpenVZ.

Cheers.

Yeah, I'll go and dig the settings up in the next day or so. Do I need to create a separate account for the wiki or can it work with the credentials from the forum?

EDIT: ok I've created an account.

How do you check if someone has opened and read your email? Before when we were on Novell Groupwise we could click on a tab and view the people we sent the email to and it would show the date/time the email was opened or if it was deleted.

Help please!

Unfortunately Zimbra doesn't support that at the moment. Go on the zimbra.com forums or bugzilla and look for "delivery reports". It's been asked for for a long time. The best you can get is read receipts.
