Zabbix-agent Installation

I just installed a brand new Proxmox - all is working well. However I do not see the zabbix-agent package in aptitude. running aptitude search zabbix* returns nothing.

any idea?

Yes, that worked actually. So I had to run 'aptitude update' & 'aptitude full-upgrade' first, then reboot, then another 'aptitude update' before I was able to see any packages properly. Would not expect that...

Thanks!

Zabbix has moved to backports, you can install the newest or "second newest" packages from there. It was a move made so Debian won't lag behind official Zabbix releases (too much).

DotDeb are also maintaining a current Zabbix Agent version in there repo - more info at http://www.dotdeb.org
Yes, that's also a possibility. But please be warned that Dotdeb is not an official Debian repository, and sometimes it has serious dependency problems, packages are disappearing without prior notice, etc. For bleeding-edge PHP development or trying out the newest MySQL packages, it serves as an intermediary step on a development machine, but I'm personally never going to use it again.
