xterm.js for Windows guest

Is it possible to use xterm.js for Windows guests? The copy and paste capability in xterm.js would be very helpful for Windows guests as well.

if windows can have some kind of terminal on a serial console, then it should be possible, though i am not aware of such a thing

I think spice would be a viable alternative indeed, but sounds like an overkill solution than using RDP, unless we are trying to take advantage of other features like USB pass-through, audio, or multiple monitors.

Yes, RDP or any other third party built-in (insisde windows) can be used as well.

(SPICE is integrated into the Proxmox VE gui)

Hi @tom,

I set my display to SPICE with 40MB of memory. I have installed the spice driver in the Windows host as well. I keep on receiving "Unable to connect to the graphics server....".

I opened the vv file and noticed there are two ports (3128 and 61000) listed there. I tried to do a tcping on the server and I can see that neither of the ports are open. Doing a netstat -tulpn shows that there are no applications listening on these ports as well.

Are there any pre-work I need to complete on the PVE side to fully enable Spice?

normally the daemon 'spiceproxy' listens on the port 3128

what does 'ss -tlpn' and 'systemctl status spiceproxy.service' show ?

systemctl status spiceproxy.service

It shows that the service is in active (running) status.
