Hi everyone,

I am encountering an issue while creating a Windows VM on Proxmox using a raw disk image. The VM fails to start, and I get the error code 0xc00000f, with the message "Windows failed to start". I’ve tried troubleshooting, but the problem persists.

Here are the details of my setup and configuration:

  • Proxmox Version:
    • proxmox-ve: 7.4-1 (running kernel: 5.15.116-1-pve)
    • pve-manager: 7.4-16 (running version: 7.4-16/0f39f621)
  • VM hardware Configuration:

  • Options:
    • 1728893208359.png
  • Error page:

If anyone has encountered this issue or has any insights into what might be causing it, I would really appreciate your help!

Thanks in advance.

Your PVE is end-of-life - you know that you really need to upgrade to 8.x, don't you? (https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/proxmox-ve-support-lifecycle.35755/)

I've installed the latest Win 11 24H2 a few days ago. Everything else is obsolete, isn't it? For that I used an EFI disk (required) and a TPM (don't remember if it was required) and the newest virtio.iso. All three elements are missing in your VM configuration. Which version of Windows are you trying to install - you wrote "...while creating a Windows VM" but no CdRom/.iso is visible.

Sorry, not directly helpful in your situation...

Edit: the CPU is default=KVM64. I had trouble with this and went the "host" way instead.
